Web Safari Week 2 - Ranking RSS Feeds with Postrank

A further refinement of this concept is exemplified by PostRank which describes itself as 'a scoring system ... to rank any kind of online content, such as RSS feed items, blog posts, articles, or news stories. PostRank is based on social engagement, which refers to how interesting or relevant people have found an item or category to be. ... PostRank measures engagement by analyzing the types and frequency of an audience's interaction with online content. An item's PostRank score represents how interesting and relevant people have found it to be. The more interesting or relevant an item is, the more work they will do to share or respond to that item so interactions that require more effort are weighted higher.' (from http://www.postrank.com/postrank#what where you can read more about how PostRank works)
I hadn't come across this before, so added this to my feed reader.  Interesteing Idea.  In some ways this system provides a bit of duplication to a search engine like google.  Ie if there was some authority in the site than google would already rank the content of that site accordingly.  After all, (at least of my understand at them moment) an rss feed is simply a simply a tool to notify the user of new content, or at least that is how most people use it.
