The reason that twitter account account was set up was to provide a feed so that I could get updates via twitter (my preferred tool). Anyway, I have developed a work around for this using an RSS bundle, it's atom feed and this SlimRSS Reader. At least this way I can get updates in real-ish time and help contribute to the success of other people's blogs.
It would work a whole heap better if feedback about twitter was provided via twitter, feedback about the blog was provided (ie email is a different audience). I think I need some reminding as to which laws have been broken here. Twitter's own terms of service allows this to occur http://support.twitter.com/groups/33-report-a-violation/topics/122-reporting-violations/articles/18366-impersonation-policy
Blowing off steam a bit by posting this, but this was the feedback that I was provided.
Firstly, you should not republish anything without the author's permission.Secondly, and most importantly, students need to be sure that the material they are putting on their blogs as part of RMIT assessment is not made available outside the class group. It is essential for the integrity of this assignment to protect student privacy as much as possible. Even if you have the permission of one student to republish material from their blog, that blog may in fact include feeds from other students who would not be aware it is being published.
What are you guys thoughts?
